Former South African captain Faf du Plessis said India won’t get over their heartbreaking defeat to Australia soon, and that it will take time to forget it. India lost to Australia by six wickets in the final after continuously winning 10 matches on the trot.

Both the teams then played five T20Is against each other. Team India has the next assignment against South Africa starting December 10. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, du Plessis cited the example of South Africa’s 2015 World Cup exit, saying such defeats feel like breaking up with a girlfriend.

That is a big challenge. I remember going through a similar experience as a cricketer when we went through the highs and lows of the 2015 World Cup
Du Plessis told NDTV

He added:

The heartache that you have to deal with takes a bit of time, and it is a bit like breaking up with a girlfriend. You cannot just get over it straight away.
