West Indies cricket is going through serious turmoil. The team that boasts of having won two ODI World Cups and two T20 World Cups is failing to not only win but even qualify for the tournaments. The worst of all nightmares for Windies cricket fans came true on Saturday as the two-time champions’ chances to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup were ended by Scotland

While West Indies had put themselves in some serious trouble after they lost to Zimbabwe and the Netherlands in the first round of the ODI World Cup Qualifiers, the defeat against Scotland ended any last chance for the West Indies to fetch themselves a ticket to India.

All three defeats have come due to collective failures from the Windies. While the Shai Hope-led team failed to chase a target against Zimbabwe, West Indies ended up conceding a massive 374 runs against the Netherlands who won the game in the Super Over.

Now, against Scotland, the Men in Maroon were bowled out for 181 and then conceded 185 runs with seven Dutch batters still left to bat. The situation could have been worse had Jason Holder (45) and Romario Shepherd (36) not formed a 77-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Interestingly, India are all set to tour the West Indies for a full-fledged series. The two teams will play two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is.
