On 1st April, Mumbai Indians played their first match at Wankhede Stadium, their home stadium, against Rajasthan Royals. Local fans were excited to see their favorite team play after an entire year, but Trent Boult had different plans in mind. 

Winning the toss, Sanju Samson decided to send his bowlers on a pitch which was covered with grass, and it paid off. In the first over, Trent Boult picked up two wickets. The first was Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who edged the ball to Samson. The ball kept low and the RR captain took a spectacular one- handed catch. 

The very next ball he trapped Naman Dhir in front of the stumps. The umpire gave the wicket, but Dhir reviewed as he thought the ball would go above the stumps. Unfortunately, the hawkeye showed umpire’s call, giving the wicket to Boult on the last ball of the over. 

Although the Kiwi seamer missed out on his hat-trick, he got the wicket of Dewald Brevis the very next ball. Brevis went to drive a ball on the fifth stump, but edged it and the ball flew to short third man. Boult finished the powerplay with figures of 3-0-14-3. 

Fans mock terrible batting performance by Mumbai 

Fans praised Trent Boult for his incredible opening spell, with all in awe of his abilities with the new ball. Many mocked the Mumbai Indians batting, who lost their first four wickets for just 20 runs. Some joked how none of them wanted to perform for Hardik Pandya.

MI finished the innings with only 125 runs on board, with Hardik Pandya being the highest scorer with 34. Although Boult did not pick up any more wickets, Yuzvendra Chahal picked up three. They chased down the score with ease, with Riyan Parag scoring yet another fifty.
