“Umbarrassing”- Fans react as Dream 11 set to replace Byju’s as Team India’s Jersey Sponsor
It is worth mentioning that BCCI has had some iconic brands as Team India's jersey sponsors.

Fantasy Gaming Platform Dream 11 is all set to come on board as Team India’s new Jersey Sponsor for which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently floated a tender. The Indian cricket board has been without a Jersey Sponsor ever since Byju’s walked out of the deal.
Although BCCI recently onboarded Adidas as Team India’s Kit Sponsor in a lucrative five-year deal and the players sported the new jerseys designed by the leading sports apparel brand during the WTC Final, the jersey had no sponsors. Nevertheless, now the BCCI has onboarded the popular brand.
However, as per the report in News18 Cricketnext, the deal is not as valuable as it was with Byju’s. Notably, BCCI earned a whopping 5.5 crores from Byju’s for every bilateral match while it earned 1.7 crores during ICC tournaments (because of the positioning of their logo). With Dream11, the amount has come down significantly.
The aforementioned report also claimed that brands were redundant in signing a deal with the Indian cricket board despite it lowering the base price. “Industry experts tracking developments from close quarters have revealed that there was a lack of interest even after the lowered base price,” claimed the report.
Fans not happy with this signing
As with everything in Indian cricket, fans were quick to react to this piece of news. Most of them were left disappointed calling it a “downfall”.
Check out the reactions.
It is worth mentioning that BCCI has had some iconic brands as Team India’s jersey sponsors. While Wills and ITC were the brands during the 90s, Sahara and Star appeared on the Indian cricket team’s jerseys in the 2010s. Oppo then replaced Sahara followed by Byju’s and now Dream11.
