Due to incessant rain in Ahmedabad, the Indian Premier League (IPL) final, which was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday (May 28), was pushed into Reserve Day on Monday (29). Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are currently locking horns in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

But this reminded the fans of Dhoni’s last match for India. Notably, Dhoni donned the Blue jersey for the last time in a semi-final match of the 2019 ODI World Cup between India and New Zealand, which ended up in the Kiwi’s favor and Dhoni suffered a heartbreaking run-out.

And now, fans fear that this final could be MS Dhoni’s last match in IPL. There has already been speculation that IPL 2023 will be Thala’s last appearance in the cash-rich league but the 41-year-old has not revealed anything regarding the same.

On the reserve day, MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first. He empathized with the fans and praised them for attending the matches despite the rain. Thousands of fans packed the stadium on Sunday and they had to brave the rain during the whole time at the venue and had to rush back to their accommodation after the reserve day declaration.

I think it is the same with both teams as both were in the dressing room the whole evening yesterday and as a cricketer you want to play. The fans have suffered more than us and credit to them for the way they are supporting us and we need to produce an entertaining brand of cricket for them,” Dhoni said after winning the toss on Monday.
