For the past few years, fans saw cricketer Shreyas Iyer being close friends with the wife of Yuzvendra Chahal, Dhanashree Verma. The two spent time together, with a reel of them dancing together going viral. Seeing their proximity, fans started joking around that the two were now seeing each other, which led to rumors of problems between Chahal and his wife

The rumor has not stopped, with people running this trend as long as they could. It continued when Iyer appeared in an event for Gillete. He was playing cricket on the turf and asked the crowd around to make some noise. Instead they started chanting “Dhanashree” in a way to taunt the batter. One even shouted, “I miss you Dhanashree”.

While the two are close friends, many fans decided to mock the cricketer using her name. Chahal in the past has been forced to put up stories on Instagram, asking fans to stop spreading rumors about his marriage.

Shreyas Iyer’s poor form

Ever since replacing Ajinkya Rahane in the Test team, Shreyas Iyer has faced the wrath of fans. Many called for him to be dropped, as bowlers targeted his short ball weakness. He finally showed how important he is to the Test team following brilliant innings against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in 2022, showing his skill against spin.

Unfortunately, things haven’t worked out since 2023 as he has managed only 131 runs in the past 10 innings. His troubles began in the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy, as he managed 42 runs in the second and third Test. He missed out on the first Test due to an injury and couldn’t bat in the final Test for the same.

His worries continued in South Africa, as his inability to play pace and bouncers made him a sitting duck. He scored only 41 runs in four innings, with two of them being bowled. In the first Test against England, he did score 35 in the first innings, but threw his wicket away trying to attack. During the 2nd innings he was caught at slip for just 13 runs after pushing at it.

In case you missed!
