After their win over Australia in Mohali, the Indian Cricket Team were declared the number 1 ODI team in the ICC Men’s Cricket Rankings. With them now being the number 1 ODI team, they are now the number 1 team in all formats.
The Indian team has a rating of 116, while the Pakistan cricket team has a rating of 115. The T20I rankings were last updated on August 31st, with India having a rating of 264. The Test rankings were updated on 31st July, with India having a rating of 118.
With India winning the 2023 Asia Cup, their ODI series against West Indies and their win against Australia, they gained more points and ratings bumped up. India go into the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup as favorites. In the 2015 and 2019 editions of the World Cup, they lost in the semifinals to Australia and New Zealand respectively. The last time the ODI World Cup was hosted in India, the Indian cricket team won their 2nd World Cup title.
Fans are excited as India overtakes Pakistan to become the No. 1 team in all formats
As India became the No. 1 ODI team after overtaking Pakistan, Indian fans couldn’t hold their joy back. India are currently ranked no. 1 in all formats as well. Some fans are just waiting for the World Cup to begin, with many confident they would be champions of the world.
Many fans were not being too over-confident, saying India being the no.1 team is a great achievement, but they need to wait for the World Cup to begin and see India’s performances in the multinational tournament.
