“We’re the ones that pull out from Asia Cup,” Former Pakistan Team Captain comment on the battle between BCCI and PCB
Ramiz Raja and Jay Shah
2023 will be a watershed year for cricket throughout the world. Fans are looking forward to major tournaments such as the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup next year. The BCCI and PCB are now at war over the location of these two tournaments.
Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary general, took the cricket world by storm when he announced that the Indian team won’t be traveling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. Later, he insisted that the location for the tournament to be shifted to a neutral place.
Ramiz Raja, who is serving as chairman of the PCB, gave a Befitting reply to the statements made by Shah. He mentioned if the Indian team did not come to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup, then the Men in Green would not participate in the ODI WorldCup which will be held in India. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi recently remarked on the situation.
Shahid Afridi stated in a media interview that PCB earned the right to organize the tournament fair and square. If India does not want to attend, they should not, but if the Asia Cup is held outside Pakistan as a result of their actions, the PCB should not send their team.
Shahid Afridi said, “It’s not as if we don’t have hosting rights and we’re pleading to host it, We won the rights fair and square. If India doesn’t come, they won’t come. If the Asia Cup gets taken away from Pakistan, maybe we’re the ones that pull out.”
Shahid Afridi says that Indians want to have a match with Pakistan at Asia Cup
In the same interview, Shahid Afridi stated that it is not just Pakistan that would enjoy hosting the event, but the Indian fans too would enjoy seeing their team compete. India vs. Pakistan is a match that both nations are always excited about and the it’s craze is something that can’t be measured.
Since cricket matches between India and Pakistan only happen during ICC tournaments, the former Pakistan captain believed that it would be a waste of chance if India decided to not play at the Asia Cup. The many fans from both sides would miss the salivating cricket action between the two teams.
Shahid said, “The relations between Pakistan and India have always improved due to cricket. Indians want to see Pakistan play cricket in India.” Fans will have to wait and watch to see what happens as the scenario intensifies each day.
