“Ganguly won’t allow me to play because…”- Herschelle Gibbs discloses why he isn’t playing in Road Safety World Series 2022

Herschelle Gibbs and Saurav Ganguly

Former South Africa batter Herschelle Gibbs has said that because he had represented in the Pakistan-backed Kashmir Premier League (KPL), BCCI President Saurav Ganguly doesn’t want him to play in the Road Safety World Series 2022.

Last August, Gibbs had played in the KPL in the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) notwithstanding opposition from the BCCI. He had accused the Indian body of threatening him with a ban from India’s cricket activities.

He then disclosed why he isn’t playing in the on-going Road Safety World Series after a fan had asked him the reason. He replied with: “Ganguly won’t allow me to play because I went to Kashmir league last year.”

Notably, Gibbs is also not included in the squad of World Legends XI match against Indian Legends XI, which will be played on September 16 at the Eden Gardens after fans brutally trolled Ganguly on social media.

Ganguly was supposed to lead the India Legends XI but he pulled himself out due to “professional commitments and continuous work with cricket administration.”

Suresh Raina first gave company to Binny with his 33 runs off 22 balls while Naman Ojha and Sachin Tendulkar‘s first-wicket partnership of 46 runs in 5.2 overs gave India Legends a flying start. Their bowlers then did the rest of the job as they limited Jonty Rhodes’ South Africa Legends to 156/9.
