“They are going to be a threat”- Gautam Gambhir warns Rohit Sharma & Co. to be wary of THIS team in the T20 World Cup
Team India
Gautam Gambhir warned Rohit Sharma and his men to not take Sri Lanka lightly. Sri Lanka defeated Aisan giants like India and Pakistan to get crowned Aisa Cup 2022 champions. Gambhir said Dasun Shanaka’s Lankans are peaking at this time so they’re going to be threat for the Men in Blue.
“Sri Lanka, because of the kind of success they have had at the Asia Cup. The way they are playing, the way they are probably peaking at the right time. And with Chameera and Lahiru Kumara coming in, they probably got most of their places covered. They are going to be a threat and so they are going to take a lot of confidence into the T20 World Cup,” Gambhir told Star Sports.
Sri Lanka is considered as the most unpredictable team. In the Aisa Cup 2022, after an embarrasing defeat to Afghanistan, they outclassed India in the Super 4 stage, upstaged Babar Azam‘s Pakistan to grab the coveted cup.

Sri Lanka lost the tournment opener to underdog Namibia
However, the Lankans will need to qualify first for the Super 12 stage to face India. Apart from Sri Lanka, other countries like West Indies, Ireland, UAE, Namibia, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, and Scotland will clash against each other to fill the vacant spot in the Super 12 board. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and England have already qualified. India will face its arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23 at the MCG in Melbourne.
In the T20 tournament opener (on Sunday, October 16) at the Simonds Stadium, the Lankans faced a surprising defeat from underdog Namibia by 55 runs. Batting first, Namibia scored 163 runs and bowled out Sri Lanka on just 108 runs. It will be interesting to watch how the island nation will leave behind this embarrasment to proceed further.
