Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrirsers Hyderabad (SRH) in their last league game by eight wickets to stay alive in the IPL 2023 playoff race. Meanwhile, MI’s win meant the end of the road for Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the last year’s runners-up finished in the sixth position. Rajasthan won seven out of their fourteen games. However, the defeat to RCB by a massive 112 runs dented RR’s net run rate.
Nevertheless, they stand eliminated from IPL 2023 while Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fight it hard against Gujarat Titans to eliminate MI. The Faf du Plessis-led team just needs to beat GT in order to finish in the top four and qualify for the playoffs.
Coming back to MI’s win, Cameron Green powered the five-time champions to an emphatic win as he scored an unbeaten 100 off just 47 balls. In a chase of 201, Green quickly got off the blocks and kept the momentum with MI till the very end. Rohit Sharma also stepped up and scored a half-century. The MI captain scored a 37-ball 56 and held one end intact.
Suryakumar Yadav then scored a 16-ball 25* to finish things off for MI. With Mumbai Indians winning emphatically against SRH and knocking RR out of the tournament, fans bombarded memes on Twitter.

Rohit Sharma expects a favour back from RCB
Although Mumbai Indians (MI) registered an emphatic win, their playoff qualification hopes rely on the result of the last match between RCB and GT. MI need RCB to lose the game against GT so that they can make it through. Regarding the same, MI captain made a witty statement at the post-match presentation where he sought a favour from RCB.
“Last year, we did a big favour to RCB, I hope we get the result what we are looking for,” said Rohit during the post-match presentation.
