IPL 2023: Gujarat Titans open to trade Lockie Ferguson for Shivam Mavi

Gujarat Titans (GT) are looking for a possible trade with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where they will hand over speedster Lockie Ferguson for Indian youngster Shivam Mavi in return. The transfer window is currently open with the teams required to submit the list of retained players by November 15.

The New Zealand pacer was released by two-time IPL champions KKR ahead of IPL 2022. However, they didn’t bid for him at the mega-auction. The newly introduced franchise Gujarat Titans won the bid for the player after intense competition from Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

It remains to be seen if speedster Lockie Ferguson lands at a new home or ends up staying in Gujarat for the upcoming season. The swap will help the 2022 IPL winners build a strong base of Indian bowlers. KKR, on the other hand, will get the services of an experienced bowler who can consistently clock 150 kmph.

The BCCI has given freedom to teams to select any number of retained players. The mini-auction is likely to take place on December 15. However, the venue is yet to be decided by the governing body. The event could happen overseas for the first time in the competition’s history.
