Ever since the start of the Indian Premier League, only three of the original eight teams have not won a title. Over the 17 years of the IPL, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings have reached the finals of the IPL, but have lost.
After Faf du Plessis-led team’s loss to Kolkata Knight Riders, Harbhajan Singh explained why RCB are not a successful team, unlike Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Singh believes the team never backed players, letting go of stars regularly. He took the example of Shivam Dube, who is now an important part of CSK’s middle order.

They don't back players. RCB couldn't get the best out of Shivam Dube, who is now winning matches for Chennai Super Kings. He was CSK's star performer in the title-winning season in 2023. When Shivam played for RCB, he failed to perform. Actually, players get backing at CSK, but the situation is different in RCB.Harbhajan Singh on Star Sports
He took further examples of Yuzvendra Chahal and Wanindu Hasaranga, who were released by RCB in the past. Chahal is now at Rajasthan Royals, where he won the Purple Cap in his first season. Hasaranga is now at Sunrisers Hyderabad, but has not joined yet as he recovers from an ankle injury.
Former World Cup winner suggests how RCB can improve
Since the start of the 2024 IPL, RCB have lost two out of their three matches. They performed poorly in these matches and got dominated by their opponents.

Former World Cup winner, Kris. Srikkanth, suggested how to improve the team. He proposed dropping Alzarri Joseph and Rajat Patidar to fit in Will Jacks and Akash Deep.
Will Jacks is a brilliant off spinner, I think we can push him for 2 overs. The line-up according to me should be, if I was the captain. Will Jacks, Virat Kohli opening. Faf du Plessis at No. 3, Cameron Green at 4, Glenn Maxwell, and then you drop Alzarri Joseph, drop Patidar and play an Indian fast bowler - Akash Deep.Kris Srikkanth on Star Sports
RCB will now play Lucknow SuperGiants on 2nd April, which will be their 3rd home match of the season. They are at 6th place in the points table, with a Net Run Rate of -0.711.
