Hardik Pandya is set to part ways with Gujarat Titans (GT) and will join Mumbai Indians (MI) if recent reports are to be believed. There has been no confirmation regarding the same yet and an announcement will soon be made.

As per a report by The Times of India, Pandya and the GT management had differences and the all-rounder was in talks with his old franchise MI even before the World Cup. The report by TOI also stated that GT coach Ashish Nehra had been working overtime to find a suitable replacement for Pandya.

Hardik has been in talks with Mumbai Indians since the last IPL was over. Hardik and MI reached the decision a couple of months before the World Cup. The Titans management and Hardik have had growing differences. It's up to the two franchises to firm up the modalities and formalize the deal. An announcement will be made only after that.
A BCCI source told TOI.

Hardik Pandya likely to become next MI captain after Rohit Sharma

According to the TOI report, Hardik Pandya is seen as a potential successor to Rohit Sharma as a long-time captain for MI. After the World Cup final where India faced a heart-breaking six-wicket defeat to Australia, Rohit reportedly is pondering over his T20I career but is keen to continue as Test captain, so it will be interesting to see for how long Rohit plays in IPL.

As a rookie player, Pandya got groomed by MI, but he was released by the franchise before the mega auction for the 2022 IPL. GT and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were the two new teams in the 2022 IPL and Pandya led the former to victory in his maiden appearance. In IPL 2023, GT were defeated by MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final.
