India all-rounder Hardik Pandya who also leads Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) recently got candid about his journey so far wherein he revealed how he was dropped from the Baroda state team over an attitude problem. “I was dropped from my state team when I was 17 years old because people thought I had an attitude problem. My belief was that if you don’t respect me, you don’t deserve my respect and it has been right from the start,” said Pandya to Robin Uthappa on Jio Cinema.
This quote from Pandya was shared widely on social media and attracted some significant reactions. While a few believed that Pandya was right in what he was saying, most of the users took a dig at the GT captain by praising the then-Baroda management for being visionary.

Does Hardik Pandya have an attitude problem?
While fans continue to criticize Hardik Pandya for his on-field antics, it is an interesting topic to discuss. When Pandya first played at the international level, he was a young and motivated player who used to throw his body on the line for his team. Over the years, he matured as a player as well as an individual. In these years, Pandya has performed decently if not exceptionally.
In 172 international matches (11 Tests, 74 ODIs, and 87 T20Is) Pandya has scored 3387 runs at an average of 29.45. Meanwhile, he has also scalped 158 wickets. Pandya’s major achievement is winning an IPL title in his maiden season as a captain (with Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022). The Baroda cricketer is well on course to become India’s full-time captain in T20Is if not white-ball cricket. Pandya has been hailed for his calm and composed demeanour as a captain by his teammates as well as experts. However, fans continue to question his attitude.
