The renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has been at the receiving end of criticism from Virat Kohli fans after he called the 35-year-old’s performance in T20Is mediocre. Recently, Bhogle gave his opinion about an article written by his brother Srinivas Bhogle, who analyzed the performance of different batters in the T20Is.

Kohli’s performance in the T20Is was deemed by Bhogle as ordinary, resulting in heavy criticism by Kohli fans. Kohli, after missing the first T20I against Afghanistan, scored 29 from 16 balls with a couple of boundaries in the second match.

According to Bhogle, it was an “underwhelming” performance from a great of the game like Kohli. Bhogle expected something more from the former Indian captain, asserting that a 16-ball 29 would have looked satisfactory had a youngster scored it.

But because he is a great player, we expect more and think it was underwhelming. A 29(16) from Jaiswal or Gill will be more acceptable though it should really be seen the same way. The 29(16) approach will produce, say a 60(33) a few times.
