How MS Dhoni can play for another five seasons? Ex-India cricketer gives interesting answer
Pathan thinks the Impact Player rule will aid Dhoni if he wants to prolong his IPL career.
MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni and talk about his retirement are not going to end soon. Until the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper himself says anything on the same, the rumors won’t stop a bit.
But former India cricketer Yusuf Pathan has made an interesting observation while pointing out how Dhoni can still play for the next five seasons. Pathan thinks the Impact Player rule will aid Dhoni if he wants to prolong his Indian Premier League (IPL) career.
“Why should Dhoni leave, with the new Impact Player rule, he can play for another five years. Although he may not be the captain, fans will see him bat and mentor CSK,” Yusuf Pathan said while speaking on Espncricinfo.
“In my opinion, Dhoni can continue playing for another five years because of the new Impact Player rule. He said nothing about retirement, it’s others who have been talking about it. He still has a lot of cricket left in him. He has hit big sixes in IPL despite pain in his knees. So this shows his commitment towards the sport,” Pathan added.
MS Dhoni and Co. qualify for IPL 2023 playoffs
Only a win was required by MS Dhoni and Co. for securing a playoffs berth which they did after defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) in their last league match on Saturday (May 20).
CSK batted first and posted another 200-run total on the scoreboard. The openers, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were the stars of the match as they stitched a 141-run stand between them. Gaikwad scored 79 off 50, while Conway racked up 87 from 52 balls.
Later, the bowlers did the rest of the job despite David Warner‘s 86 off 58 to win the match by 77 runs. Now the four-time champions will face defending champions Gujarat Titans on Tuesday (May 23) in the first playoffs.
