“I am so happy for him”- Dale Steyn on Umran Malik’s maiden India call-up

Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Umran Malik on Sunday received his maiden India call-up for the upcoming T20 series in South Africa. The series is to begin on June 9 in Delhi.
The sensational speedster will now represent in 5-match series against South Africa. So far he has picked up 22 wickets in 14 matches. He also had his maiden 5-wicket haul against Gujarat Titans.
Apart from Umran, Arshdeep Singh also got his call for the T20I. KL Rahul will captain the side as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah will take a break from the game. Rishabh Pant was named the vice-captain of the side.
“I am so happy for him,” said the former South African bowler Dale Steyn
“I think there’s two things why you come to IPL. One is you wanna win it, it’s a competition and everybody wants to win but the second thing is to try and establish yourself, put yourself, put your name on the map so you can play at the highest level whether it be India or South Africa or Australia- you ever are playing for or coming from and Umran has done exactly that,” he added.

Umran Malik’s father was so overwhelmed after knowing his son will be representing the country in blue jersey. He found it difficult to express his feelings.
“People were just coming in hoards to congratulate me. I am now going home and would join the celebrations. Just saw the news on internet. What could be a bigger achievement than to wear the national colours,”
