“I asked the bowlers to show a lot of character and forget about the result”- MS Dhoni praises CSK’s fast bowlers

Both Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are occupying the bottom of the points table but a match between them is never dull. In fact, it is one of the few matches that cricket fans are eagerly waiting for, irrespective of the results.
So, the result of today’s game was in favour of the Men in Blue as they defeat the Men in Yellow by 5 wickets in what had been a fine game from Mumbai’s sides. CSK witnessed their 2nd lowest score in IPL after succumbing for 97 with MS Dhoni’s lone show, and the highest from both the sides, of 36* off 33 balls. Mumbai’s story was the same, a quick fall of wickets, but a calm and composed Tilak Verma’s 34* in 32 balls.
Knowing that defending the paltry score like these needs tremendous efforts from the bowlers and so MS Dhoni’s mantra to them were to show their characters and forget the results.
A game like this helps the fast bowlers in believing in themselves, says MS Dhoni
During the post-match presentation, the CSK skipper praised the bowlers and said:
“Irrespective of how the wicket is, anything below 130 is difficult to defend, but what I asked the bowlers was to show a lot of character and forget about the result. Both the young fast bowlers bowled really well and I feel a game like this really helps them in believing in themselves that irrespective of the conditions, whenever we start, we need to have the same kind of attitude and that’s what is needed in the shortest format.”
“We have gone through periods where we never really had that extraordinary bench of fast bowlers. Also, fast bowlers they take their time to mature, if you are lucky, you get somebody who can feature in all formats in six months’ time and that is what IPL is doing and it is an opportunity for a lot of them. They bowl a bit courageous now which is very important in a format like this. And some players take their time before executing their plans better,” MS Dhoni added.
