“I was sad for Ronaldo yesterday,” Fans’ plea answered as Team India halt Australia’s T20I winning streak

Team India levelled the five-match T20I series against Australia, as they claimed a last gasp victory in the second T20I. Playing in front of a packed crowd in Mumbai, Smriti Mandhana put on a match-winning performance against the reigning world champions.
The camera captured one fan in the crowd, who had a special request for Team India. In the ongoing FIFA World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal bowed out of the quarterfinals, losing to Morocco by the barest of margins. The particular fan seemed to be gutted about the loss, and pleaded Team India to defeat Australia in the second T20I.
“I was sad for Ronaldo today. Don’t wait to go home sad again today,” the fan wrote in the banner. Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. won the second T20I in the Super Over, courtesy of some brilliant batting from Smriti Mandhana.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup dream came to a shattering end, as Morocco continued their dream run in Qatar. This was certainly the Portuguese’s striker last shot at World Cup glory, as he is expected to announce his International retirement in the next couple of weeks.

Smriti Mandhana’s brilliant knock helps India level T20I series

Chasing a total of 188 runs, Smriti Mandhana’s knock of 79 runs laid a strong foundation for the hosts. The reigning World Champions pulled back things towards the end of the second innings, however, Richa Ghosh’s fiery knock helped take the game into the Super Over. Shafali Verma also played a handy innings at the top of the order, scoring 34 off just 23 balls.
Smriti Mandhana scored 13 runs in the Super Over, as India set a monumental target of 21 runs for the visitors. Australia fell four runs short, as India levelled the five-match T20I series. The visitors were handed their first defeat in this format since 2021, as their 11-match unbeaten streak came to an end.
The Indian team did a lap of honour around the DY Patil Stadium, in front of a packed crowd. The third T20I will now be played on Dec 14, Wednesday at the Brabourne Stadium.
