“If he needs that…,” Simon Doull picks the right and wrong between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir

Ever since the on-field spat between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, reactions from all corners have been pouring in. While social media is filled with videos and posts about the incident, Kohli and Gambhir continue to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Former cricketers are also being asked about their views on this spat and Simon Doull was no exception.

The former New Zealand cricketer turned commentator was asked about this particular incident as well as about Kohli’s wild celebrations after every Lucknow wicket during Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday. Doull said that he has got no problem with Kohli’s attitude if it gets him going.

The commentator said that the RCB stalwart has been playing like this for years now and it has been the highlight of Kohli’s career so far.

“He [Virat Kohli] was very passionate tonight, wasn’t he? Every wicket that went down, it was like he was up. I mean, he plays that way in general terms. I think that’s been one of the great things about the way he has played. If he needs that passion to get himself going, I’ve got no problem with that,” Doull told Cricbuzz.

Not just Simon Doull but former England captain Michael Vaughan also shared his views on this on-field altercation between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. Vaughan said that while he does not mind players confronting each other, coaches getting involved is not something he likes to see.

“Virat is a fiery character and, on the field, you could see that. His team was defending a low total, it was a fantastic win, RCB right in the contest. I don’t mind players having confrontations, it’s a game. You don’t want to see it every day. I don’t like coaches getting involved. I don’t see where any member of the coaching department is involved in the on-field action. What goes on the field, stays on the field,” said Vaughan.
