India and Pakistan both share the record for the most whitewashes in any T20I bilateral series (3 matches or more). Now as the third T20I of the Afghanistan tour of India approaches, India have the chance to achieve their 9th T20 series whitewash.

India won the first match of the series thanks to a great batting performance in the cold conditions of Mohali. They then again won the 2nd T20I thanks to a great all-round performance where they restricted Afghanistan to just 172 and chased it down in 94 balls.

The final T20I is being played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Afghanistan will aim to win their first T20I against India. This will also be India’s final T20I match before the 2024 T20I World Cup, as they play a 5-match Test series against England. The only T20s the Indian team will play will be in the 2024 IPL.

Despite the heavy defeat, Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner claimed the Pakistan side were a good team, which was shown every time they faced each other. He was happy with the way they batted on the University Oval, which is a very small ground.

Pakistan have officially lost their first T20I series under the captaincy of Shaheen Afridi. The Men in Green have failed to win a single match since 4th November, when they beat the Kiwis in the World Cup.
