The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s squad for the five-match T20I series against the West Indies. Yashaswi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma got their maiden call-ups while Rinku Singh, who showed promising signs as a finisher was ignored. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jitesh Sharma also failed to make the cut.

Hardik Pandya was named as the captain of the 15-member squad while Suryakumar Yadav was chosen as his deputy. Both Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan have been included in the T20I squad. Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan are the four pacers while Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravi Bishnoi are the spinners.

Axar Patel is the only spin-bowling all-rounder in the 15-member squad.

Fans certainly don’t like the omission of Rinku Singh

As soon as the BCCI announced the squads, Twitter was flooded with reactions. Fans questioned the logic behind not including Rinku Singh who did a terrific job as a finisher. A few also seemed upset with the fact that Shubman Gill a certain for the ODI World Cup was selected ahead of Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Notably, Rinku Singh scored close to 500 runs while batting at No.6 and below. The southpaw also maintained a healthy strike rate of 148+.
