“Just like dream of winning world cup’- India’s Test series victory in South Africa still remains a dream as they face defeat on Day 3, netizens react

India have never won a Test series on African soil. And as they have now lost this match, it would be impossible for them to seal the series even if they win the second and last Test.

India were expected to pull off a commendable victory in South Africa but, unfortunately, that did not happen. On Day 3, the hosts clinched the win by an innings and 32 runs at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, South Africa restricted India to just 245 runs as Kagiso Rabada‘s five-wicket haul destroyed India’s batting line-up. Had KL Rahul not scored his 101, India would have found themselves in a more dangerous situation.

The Proteas started their first innings by losing Aiden Markram‘s wicket in the fourth over. But that was the only wicket the Indians enjoyed for a while because Dean Elgar (who was also playing his farewell Test series) unleashed attacks on the Indian bowlers.

He made a memorable 287-ball 185 and along with Marco Jansen’s 84 and David Bedingham’s 56, South Africa posted 408. India, in their second innings, had no answer in front of Nandre Burger and Jansen as they both took four and three wickets respectively. Rabada scalped two wickets.

For India, Virat Kohli tried to steady the innings with his 82-ball 76 runs but in vain. South Africa soon bundled out the visitors for 131 runs to win the match by an innings and 32 runs.
