For the past few days, Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf found himself in hot water when he chose the Big Bash League (BBL) over the Test series against Australia. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) then made it mandatory for all the players who have a central contract to make national duty their first priority.

The PCB later issued the NOC, allowing Rauf to participate in the BBL. Now the rumors say Rauf might see a termination of his central contract with the PCB, which Riaz quashed, saying playing the five games in the BBL will help Rauf stay in rhythm which is why the committee, after discussion, gave him the NOC from December 7th to 28th December.

Haris Rauf is our own product. We are not here to finish his career.
Riaz told Sports Paktv

He added:

When any player signs the central contract, he is bound to have Pakistan cricket as his priority. There are termination clauses in the central contract in case of a breach, but people are assuming and spreading rumors as if they know everything.

Riaz further said that after playing those couple of matches in the BBL, Rauf will join the Pakistan team in New Zealand if he gets selected. Notably, apart from Rauf, a few other players also received NOC from the PCB to participate in the BBL.

Wasim Akram has a piece of advice for Haris Rauf

Pakistan legend Wasim Akram did not like Haris Rauf’s decision of choosing white-ball cricket over Tests. He told reporters that if Rauf wants to become a modern-day great, he has to play Test cricket regularly and manage the workload better.

Notably, Rauf has featured in just one Test in his career so far and bowled 13 overs. He made his debut last year against England and since that match, he has yet to don the white jersey for the national team. Akram gave a piece of advice to Rauf saying if he wants himself to be remembered as a great of the game, he must play Test cricket.
