Ishan Kishan has not featured in India matches since November 2023. Citing mental fatigue, Kishan opted out of the five-match Test series against England. Kishan was part of the squad for several bilateral series, but despite a 200 in ODIs, he remained on the sidelines due to team composition.
For him to make a comeback, he needs to play some cricket, as per India head coach Rahul Dravid. But the 25-year-old chose not to play in the Ranji Trophy. He won’t be a part of Jharkhand for their match against Haryana in Jamshedpur, starting February 9.

I just don't want to go on laboring about the Ishan Kishan point. Whenever he is ready, I didn't say he has to play domestic cricket, I said whenever he is ready… he needs to play some cricket and come back. The choice is his. We are not forcing him to do anything. We are in touch with him.Dravid said at the press conference after India’s win over England in the second Test
As per Cricbuzz, Kishan is currently in Baroda training at the Kiran More Academy along with Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. Some reports claimed Kishan was unhappy with the management for considering Jitesh Sharma in T20Is.
As wicketkeeper KS Bharat couldn’t make use of the opportunities given to him in Test cricket, Kishan would have got the chance to don the gloves for the next three Tests, but it seems, he missed the chance.
What’s next for Ishan Kishan?
If Ishan Kishan doesn’t make a comeback soon for the national side, he sure will play competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL is slated to start on March 22.

Kishan plays for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and scored 454 runs from 16 matches in the previous season. In total, the Jharkhand cricketer played 91 matches and amassed 2324 runs.
His best performance came in 2020 when he scored 516 runs from 14 matches, helping MI become the five-time champions in the cash-rich league.
