Cricket fans in India are preparing for the 2nd season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which will start on 23rd February. Five teams will battle it out for three weeks to become the next WPL champions.
Before the start of the tournament, an opening ceremony will take place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, with two Bollywood stars coming in to perform. Actors Sidharth Malhotra and Kartik Aaryan will be performing before the start of the match.
Malhotra’s wife, Kiara Advani, was a performer in the previous year’s WPL opening ceremony, with Kriti Sanon and AP Dhillon. The opening ceremony will start at 6:30 pm, just an hour before the start of the season opener between Delhi Capitals and defending champions, Mumbai Indians.

Many fans have mixed reactions to the announced performers, with many excited and dreading both performers. Some wanted stars like Tiger Shroff instead, while some remembered the performances of the previous few years.

The WPL will start on 23rd February in Bangalore. The matches will be played in only two venues, Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore and Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The final will also be played in Delhi.
The tournament is a double-round robin with play-offs, which means each team will play each other twice. In the group stages, each team should be playing eight times. The team that tops the league stages, gets direct entry to the finals. Meanwhile the teams that rank 2nd and 3rd play an eliminator which will decide who plays the finals. Mumbai Indians are the current defending champions, beating the Capitals in the 2023 WPL finals.
