It seems former England captain Kevin Pietersen is tired of people telling him he was former India skipper MS Dhoni‘s only Test wicket. Pietersen took to Twitter on Tuesday (May 16) to stop the rumors.

He shared a video from the 2011 Test between India and England at the Lord’s to reveal the truth. He first wrote: “I’m actively seeking the clip from the Test match at Lord’s to put to bed all these claims that I WAS Dhoni’s first Test Wicket. I hate to break it to you- I WASN’T!”.

He then shared a video to prove it and at the same time, praised Dhoni’s bowling skills. “The evidence is CLEAR! I was NOT Dhoni’s first Test wicket. Nice ball though, MS!” he wrote.

How did the rumor start about Kevin Pietersen being MS Dhoni’s first Test wicket?

It started during the 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Kevin Pietersen was the commentator and he had a funny conversation with Manoj Tiwary who represented the Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) franchise alongside MS Dhoni.

Pietersen told Tiwary to pass a message to Dhoni that he was a better golfer than the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain. And Dhoni’s hilarious response was: “He is still my first Test wicket.” After that incident, Pietersen was constantly asked whether he was Dhoni’s only Test wicket.

Meanwhile, back in 2011, on Day 1 of the first of the four-match Test series, Dhoni took up the bowling job after Zaheer Khan picked up an injury. Dhoni was successful in troubling Pietersen and even appealed for a caught behind, which Pietersen chose to review. Replays showed that the bat hit Pietersen’s pad. And about Dhoni, he has bowled 16 overs in Tests and did not bag a wicket in his Test career.
