BREAKING! Kieron Pollard announces retirement from international cricket

West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. He made the announcement via his Instagram handle.

“POLLARD BIDS FAREWELL TO INTERNATIONAL CRICKET,” his Instagram post read.

The 34-year-old player last played an international game during an away series against India, where he lead the national side for one last time.

Pollard made his ODI debut against South Africa on 10th April 2007 during the ICC World Cup. The match was played at the National Cricket Stadium, St George’s in Grenada. He bowled three overs and scored 10 runs off 17 balls with the bat. Overall, Pollard has scored 2706 runs from 123 matches and has picked up 55 wickets.

The West Indian star player has amassed 1569 runs from 101 games in the shortest format of the game. With the ball, Pollard has 42 scalps to his name from 63 innings. He has never represented West Indies in a Test match in his career.

On May 4th, Kieron Pollard became the first West Indian to hit 6 sixes in an over in the shortest format of the game. He achieved the feat against Sri Lanka and belted 6 sixes against off-spinner Akila Dananjaya.

Kieron Pollard is expected to continue playing franchise cricket

Kieron Pollard is expected to continue playing T20 franchise cricket in the IPL and CPL. He is currently plying his trade for 5-time champions Mumbai Indians and is likely to represent Trinbago Knight Riders in the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League.
