The match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) was a rare sight, for there were lots of twists and turns. But what happened during KKR’s final over was nothing short of a miracle. Even KKR coach Chandrakant Pandit claimed he was unsure if his team can pull off the victory when 29 runs were needed in the last over.
Social media was stirred after the blitzkrieg of Rinku Singh. The cricket fraternity is still digesting the last-over drama. Rinku smashed five sixes off consecutive deliveries to the nightmare of bowler Yash Dayal to steal the victory from the defending champions.

Right after the heroics, the coach Chandrakant Pandit and skipper Nitish Rana ran onto the field to embrace the 25-year-old who was all emotional. “Well, it was a miracle, no doubt. It was a miracle that Rinku Singh could bat that way. But we were never short on our collective self-belief and Rinku’s self-belief,” Pandit Cricbuzz after the match.
“No coach can say with surety that his team can win from that stage. But we know the unpredictability that a T20 game is all about. So, you do not have to give up hope, particularly when Rinku was in the middle,” the KKR coach added.
So much happened last night, but it was Rinku Singh who stole the limelight
Two half-century knocks from Gujarat Titans’ side- Sai Sudharshan’s 53 and Vijay Shankar’s unexpected unbeaten 63 off 24 drove the team to a massive 204/4. IPL is a tournament of twists and turns. So after KKR lost the two wickets, of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Narayan Jagadeesan, fans must be thinking of an easy victory for the Titans.
But no. Venkatesh Iyer played a clutch innings, scoring 83 off 40. Captain Nitish Rana also displayed a nerve of steel with his 45 off 29. But after their dismissal, especially after Rashid Khan‘s hat trick, KKR’s dugout might have lost hope. But Rinku Singh did not.
And when everyone was wondering what exactly was happening, especially the Gujarat Titans, despite Rashid Khan’s hat trick, Rinku Singh’s five back-to-back sixes sent a shock wave. A total of 31 runs were made in the final over, which has never happened in the history of the Indian Premier League.
