KKR’s Rinku Singh’s quickfire
After the highest stand-in in IPL between the two LSG batsmen Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul had played throughout the innings without losing any wicket to score 210 runs.
KKR openers Venkatesh Iyer was sent back for a duck by Mohsin Khan while Abhijeet Tomar had gone after scoring 4 runs. But Nitish Rana then smashed 42 runs in 22 balls with 9 fours to revive KKR’s innings. They were glibly chasing the runs with Shreyas Iyer’s quick 29-ball half-century.
Afte Iyer’s wicket, Sam Billings had to go back for 36 runs in 24 balls.
But then came Rinku Singh’s quickfire. Facing just 15 balls, Rinku smacked 40 runs in just 15 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes. The match result would have been different had not Marcus Stoinis’ full ball sent Rinku back in the 2nd last ball of the penultimate over. Sunil Narine faced 7 balls and scored an unbeaten 21 runs. But it was of no use as LSG beat KKR by 2 runs.
