Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 4 wickets on Thursday, April 28 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. KKR had scored a decent total of 146/9 in their 20 overs. Even the though the chase looked easy, the result couldn’t be guessed in the very beginning as DC had the same scene like KKR while batting.

DC defeat KKR by 4 wickets
In the match, DC won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Knight Riders very soon lost their openers, Aaron Finch and Venkatesh Iyer. But Shreyas Iyer’s 42 off 37 balls revived DC’s innings. After him, no one proved much effective except for Nitish Rana who played a half-century knock. Nitish Rana scored 57 off 34 balls before giving his wicket to Mustafizur Rahman.
Kuldeep Yadav completed his four-wicket haul in his just 3 overs. He conceded just 14 runs and bagged the wickets of Shreyas Iyer, Baba Indrajith, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine. Mustafizur Rahman also shined in this match as he took 3 wickets and conceded 18 runs in his 4 overs. He dismissed Nitish Rana, Rovman Powell, and Tim Southee.
The Delhi Capitals responded with opener Prithvi Shaw giving a difficult catch to Umesh Yadav who was also the bowler. Umesh Yadav also grabbed David Warner’s wicket in the 3rd ball of the 9th over. And then sent back DC skipper Rishabh Pant.
David Warner, the other DC opener played a crucial knock of 42 off 26 balls by hitting 8 fours before giving his wicket to Umesh Yadav. Lalit Yadav played a slow innings by scoring 22 off 29 balls. After the dismissal of Rishabh Pant, DC were at 84 by losing 5 wickets.
Had it not been for Rovman Powell and Axar Patel, KKR would have won this match easily. Powell played a quick knock of 33 off just 16 balls with four and 3 sixes. He was equally supported by Axar Patel who scored 24 off 17 balls with 2 fours and a six and helped DC beat KKR by 4 wickets.
