Cricketing greats from 10 nations are set to dominate the 22 years once again in the second season of Legends League Cricket which is scheduled to kick start from September 16 at the icoic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The two team, Virender Sehwag‘s India Maharajas will lock-horns against Jacques Kallis-led World Giants in a special match which will celebrate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Former India captain Saurav Ganguly was to lead India Maharajas but because of his personal and professional reasons, he opted out of the match but promised to make his presence felt at the Eden Gardens.
After the India Maharajas versus World Giants match, the actual Legends League matches will start with the opening match between Sehwag’s Gujarat Giants and Gautam Gambhir’s India Capitals. Apart from these two teams, other two teams are Manipal Tigers and Bhilwara Kings. Harbhajan Singh will captain Manipal Tigers while Irfan Pathan will be leading the Bhilwara Kings. The 20-day tournament will be a round-robin one where the teams will clash against each other twice.
Six venues have been chosen so far. In five stadiums, the league matches will be played while Qualifier 2 and final’s venue are yet to be announced.
