Made of steel: Fans go berserk as Shimron Hetmyer propels Rajasthan Royals to first-ever win over Gujarat Titans
As RR were chasing a big total of 178 against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT), Hetmyer scored a 26-ball 56*.
Shimron Hetmyer looks like a different beast in the Rajasthan Royals (RR) setup. Ever since the West Indies batter has moved to RR, he has given his management a little to complain about. Hetmyer has provided quick cameos at the fag end while batting first and has finished matches while chasing. On Sunday, it was the latter that was on display.
As RR were chasing a big total of 178 against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT), Hetmyer scored a 26-ball 56* and propelled RR to their first-ever win over GT. Hetmyer came in to bat when Riyan Parag was dismissed. With Samson going great at the other end, Hetmyer knocked a few balls early in his inning.
However, after Samson was gone, the West Indies batter took the onus on himself to finish the game which he achieved successfully, with four balls to spare. Despite wickets falling at the other end, Hetmyer kept his composure and stayed till the end. The southpaw hit five monstrous sixes in his inning, the last of which came in the winning moment.
With Hetmyer litting-up the Sawai Man Singh Stadium with his sixes, fans went berserk on Twitter praising the southpaw for his consistent run with the bat.
