Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Hrithik Shokeen and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Nitish Rana were fined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct. While Shokeen was fined 10 per cent of his match fee, the KKR skipper was fined 25 per cent of his match fee. Both the players admitted to the Level 1 Offence.
Notably, both the players were involved in an on-field verbal spat during the match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. After Shokeen dismissed Rana, the MI bowler uttered a few words which triggered Rana who hurled abuses.
“Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana was fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.Rana admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct,” BCCI said in a statement.
“Mumbai Indians bowler Hrithik Shokeen was fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.Shokeen admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct,” it added.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ stand-in captain for the match against KKR, Suryakumar Yadav was fined INR 12 lakhs for his team’s slow over rate. “Mumbai Indians captain Suryakumar Yadav has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai,” said BCCI.
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Suryakumar Yadav was fined Rs. 12 lakh.”
