“Winning in Hyderabad is personal for Warner”- Memes abuzz as DC pip SRH in last-over thriller to win 2nd match of season
Though they were on the brink of another humiliating defeat, they made a terrific comeback during the last few overs.
SRH vs DC
When Delhi Capitals (DC) posted 144/9 in their 20 overs, most of the fans already imagined their sixth defeat of the season. Though they were on the brink of another humiliating defeat, they made a terrific comeback during the last few overs.
Thanks to Mukesh Kumar who held his nerve while successfully defending 12 runs in the final over to deny Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) win at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday (April 24). As SRH fell short of just seven runs, DC won back-to-back matches following five defeats on the trot since their campaign opener.
While chasing 145, opener Harry Brook once again flopped, scoring seven runs from 14 balls. Like DC, SRH also faced a collapse during the middle overs thanks to Ishant Sharma and the two spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel. Despite that, Mayank Agarwal tried to play responsibly but would miss his half-century by one run off 39 balls owing to Axar Patel’s delivery in the 12th over.
Next, Heinrich Klaasen attempted to steady the ship when Anrich Nortje got rid of him in the penultimate over. Klaasen had scored 31 runs from 19 balls, including three fours and a six. After the SRH wicketkeeper’s dismissal, the duty to finish the game in the team’s favor fell on Washington Sundar’s shoulders who couldn’t do his job and eventually, the hosts fell short of seven runs after being restricted at 137/6 in their 20 overs.

Earlier, a struggling DC batting line-up huffed and puffed to 144/9 with contributions from Mitchell Marsh (25 off 15), Manish Pandey (34 off 27), and Axar Patel (34 off 34). Patel was handed the Player of the Match for his all-around performance. Apart from the 34 runs, with the ball, he scalped two wickets for 21 runs in his full quota of four overs at an economy of 5.25.
