CSK vs KKR

When the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) needed just one win to qualify for the playoffs, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had other ideas. They won the match by six wickets to keep their playoffs hope alive. The Nitish Rana-led side easily chased down a 145-run target in 18.3 overs on Sunday (May 14) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

After choosing to bat first, CSK, with Shivam Dube‘s unbeaten 48 off 34 balls, and Devon Conway‘s 28-ball 30, put on 144/6 on their scoreboard. Though KKR had an easy task in front of them, they did not get the desired start they wanted as Deepak Chahar sent the top-three batters, Jason Roy, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Venkatesh Iyer to the dugout.

KKR skipper Nitish Rana then played a captain’s responsible innings and scored 57 runs from 44 balls. Apart from him, Rinky Singh also racked up his half-century, scoring 54 runs from 43 balls. These two knocks were enough for the two-time champions to pull off the victory, making CSK depend on another match for their playoff qualification.
