“Wouldn’t it have been sensible to use it”- Michael Vaughan advises using stadium with roof as Australia vs England is under threat of wash out

The rain certainly can play spoilsport as England is set to lock horns against arch-rivals Australia on Friday [October 28] at the MCG in Melbourne. Cricket fans do not want the rain at all as the showpiece T20 World Cup is underway.
Former English captain Michael Vaughan took to Twitter and suggested using a stadium with a roof to avoid rain-abandoned matches. He wrote: “Rainy season in Australia ..Stadium in Melbourne with roof on ..!!!!! Wouldn’t it have been sensible to use it ???”

Notably, Melbourne Cricket Ground doesn’t have a retractable roof facility. Only Docklands stadium has and Vaughan advised it would have been sensible had the matches been played in a stadium with a roof during the rainy season.
Rain-threat had also loomed during India versus Pakistan match but to the relief of all, it didn’t hinder the proceedings at all. However, today, the match between Ireland and Afghanistan got canceled due to rain. The match was to take place at the MCG.
Meanwhile, Docklands stadium has hosted a total of 12 ODIs. Apart from Big Bash League games, no international matches have been played recently.
Michael Vaughan slams Cricket Australia not taking care of stadiums during rain
The much-awaited clash between England and Australia can get abandoned as rain continues to delay it from taking place at the time when this article is being written. Michael Vaughan is certainly not happy with this. He took to Twitter again and wrote that Sri Lanka gets huge thunderstorms but they cover all their ground and resumes the game quickly, which isn’t the case with the MCG, one of the most iconic stadiums.
He wrote again on Twitter: “Can I also ask why in Sri Lanka where they get huge thunder storms they cover all the ground & get play back on quickly … Why hasn’t the MCG been totally covered for the last 2 days ?????“

Jos Buttler-led English team faced a heartbreaking five-run loss against neighbors Ireland in their previous match but thrashed Afghanistan by five wickets in their campaign opener. Australia started with an 89-run defeat from neighbors New Zealand but went on to win against Sri Lanka by seven wickets.
