“Man with a golden heart”- Mohammed Siraj wins hearts after he dedicates his Man of the Match award and donates cash prize to the Sri Lankan ground staff

India created history after beating Sri Lanka in the 2023 Asia Cup Finals and winning their 8th title. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. An amazing spell by Mohammed Siraj got Sri Lanka bowled out at only 50 runs.
In Siraj’s 2nd over, he picked up 4 wickets and in the next 5 overs he picked up the remaining 2 wickets. After bowling 7 overs, Siraj finished the match with figures of 6/21. India had chased down the target of 51 in just 5.1 overs, with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill scoring 23 and 27 respectively.
Mohammed Siraj was awarded the Man of the Match award for his heroics and was awarded a cash prize of USD 5000. On receiving the prize, he dedicated his Man of the Match award to the Sri Lankan ground staff who ensured the competition was played without much delay, In the post-match presentation Siraj said, “I want to give this cash prize to the groundsmen. They deserve it. If they were not around, this tournament would not have been successful.”
Asian Cricket Council President, Jay Shah, on twitter announced that the ACC would be awarding the grounds men and curators a cash prize of USD 50,000. Almost all matches held in Sri Lanka were disturbed by rain, but the ground staff ensured the matches were played with ease.

After Mohammed Siraj announced that he will be giving his cash prize to the grounds men, netizens on X were heaping praises on the 29-year-old pacer. Many fans said that they were impressed and proud of his great deed. Fans said that this was the 2nd time Siraj won their heart on the same day and were happy he is a part of the Indian squad.
