Talking about the match, LSG won the toss and decided to bowl first. LSG openers KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock walked out and the former played an excellent innings by smashing 77 runs in 51 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes before giving his wicket to Shardul Thakur in the 19th over.

Deepak Hooda supported Rahul on the other end by playing a knock of 52 off 34 balls with 6 fours and a six. He gave away his wicket to Shardul Thakur in the 15th over. Only Shardul Thakur picked three wickets as other bowlers went wicketless and LSG were able to set a target of 195/3.

The Capitals responded by losing their opening batsmen Prithvi Shaw and David Warner before the powerplay. But Mitchell Marsh played a quick knock of 37 in 20 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. But in the 8th over, Krishnappa Gowtham delivered a flatter ball and Marsh seemed to hit it towards the extra-cover region but he got the outside edge and de Kock behind the wickets grabbed a sharp catch. But UltraEdge showed that there wasn’t any bat involvement and DC made a huge mistake as Marsh didn’t take the review and walked back.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant scored 44 off 30 balls by banging 7 fours and a six. In the 13th over of Mohsin Khan, he bowled a full and straight delivery on the middle and the ball sneaked through Pant’s pad and bat and ruined the stumps.

Rovman Powell tried to play a quick knock of 35 off 21 runs with 3 fours and 2 sixes but the young Mohsin bowled a short one and Powell pulled it deep mid-wicket to give his catch to Krunal Pandya. Mohsin picked four wickets; first by dismissing David Warner, Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell, and Shardul Thakur. He conceded 16 runs in his 4 overs.
