MS Dhoni’s former teammate wants ‘prestigious’ Ranji Trophy SCRAPPED but didn’t disclose reason because of BCCI

Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary thinks the prestigious Ranji Trophy should be scrapped but refrained from revealing why he thinks so. In a social media rant, Tiwary wrote that the tournament has lost its charm.

Due to the Board of Control for Cricket in India‘s (BCCI) Code of Conduct, Tiwary couldn’t disclose what wrong things were happening in the Ranji Trophy. But on Facebook, he did reveal some problems players are facing.

Ranji trophy should be scrapped off from the calendar from the next season onwards. So many things going wrong in the tournament. So many things need to looked into in order to save this prestigious tournament which has a rich history. It’s losing its charm and importance. Absolutely frustrated.

Tiwary revealed how players had to play on the outskirts of Kerala on a ground instead of a stadium. He also complained about the dressing rooms, saying the dressing rooms are too close to each other with no privacy so that opposition members can hear everything.

Manoj Tiwary’s stats in international and domestic cricket

Manoj Tiwary has played 12 ODIs and three T20Is for India. He scored 287 and 15 runs in the two formats. The Bengal cricketer made his international debut in 2008 in an ODI match against Australia. Three years later, he played his first T20I match.

But the 38-year-old has featured in 146 Ranji Trophy matches, scoring 10124 runs at an average of 48.20. His highest score was an unbeaten 303 runs. He still has not retired from First Class cricket.

In his last Ranji Trophy match between Bengal and Mumbai, Tiwary scored 36 and 26 runs in the two innings. Prior to the Mumbai match, Tiwary smashed his 30th First Class century against Assam.
