Mumbai Police filed an FIR against a medicine company for using the legendary Sachin Tendulkar‘s name, voice, and photo for promoting its product without the Master Blaster’s permission. The company was trying to sell products like fat-burning spray, fat-melting patches, and belly burner oil among other items.

The FIR was filed by Tendulkar’s personal assistant Ramesh Pardhe. As per his FIR, he first came across a product featuring Tendulkar on May 5.

Not only did the advertisement for the belly burner oil feature Tendulkar’s picture, but it also said it was ‘recommended by Sachin Tendulkar’. The link to the ad took me to the website of the company called Shyla Health. I also checked the Instagram account of the company,” he told the police.

Pardhe stated that the company had also created a website after Tendulkar’s name. He further said he found an advertisement on the company’s Instagram and there was also an audio mimicking Tendulkar’s voice. After scrolling, he found the website of the company, sachinhealth. in, where a description was given about the fat-melting spray along with Tendulkar’s image. He said the advertisements also claimed that buyers would get a T-shirt autographed by the cricketer. 

The accused has been booked for cheating, forgery, and defamation under the sections of the Indian Penal Code and of the Information Technology Act.

Meanwhile, Tendulkar is currently providing his services to the Mumbai Indians as the team’s mentor. He was part of the franchise from 2008 and 2011 and led the side to their first-ever final in 2010. MI, led by Rohit Sharma will be playing their next match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday (May 16).
