“Pakistan team is a beatable side”- Netherlands coach Ryan Cook takes a sly jab at Men in Green

Netherlands coach Ryan Cook believes Pakistan is a beatable side after the latter faced a humiliating defeat by one run from Zimbabwe. The Men in Green will clash against the Dutch on Sunday [October 30] at the Perth Stadium, and Cook thinks his side can give a better fight to the Babar Azam-led team.

Cook also opined that playing close matches in the World Super League against Pakistan have given them a lot of confidence. “I think every team wants to win the game that they play. But we’ve obviously seen that Pakistan team is beatable, so that’s good to know,” he said in a press conference ahead of the clash.

Obviously, playing them in the World Super League not so long ago in the Netherlands has given us a lot of confidence because we came quite close in those matches. Hoping to get over the line this time. It would be great,” he added.

Cook also explained that they are more familiar with Pakistan’s pace attacks because of playing against them in the past. He added his team will care more about their own game rather than seeing how Pakistan play. “I suppose both teams start on zero points tomorrow, and both teams are even in that regard,” he said.

Pakistan and the Netherlands are still searching for their first point in the Group stage

Pakistan vs the Netherlands

Pakistan first faced a four-wicket loss against arch-rivals India in their tournament opener [October 23] and went on to lose against Zimbabwe in a last-over thriller. They were considered a strong team to lift the coveted cup, but right now, they’re still searching for their first point.

The Dutch have the same story. Despite their strong fight in the qualifier stage, they faltered against Bangladesh by just nine runs in their first Super 12 stage clash. Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue defeated them by 56 runs in their second match.

Pakistan will have to win all three of their remaining matches to qualify for the semi-finals. After facing the Netherlands, they clash against South Africa [November 3] and Bangladesh [November 6].
