MI vs GT

Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) in what was a sensational match of this Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Two batters were unstoppable and left everyone in awe. First, MI’s Suryakumar Yadav slammed his maiden ton, then GT’s Rashid Khan played a jaw-dropping innings. But his heroic knock did not help GT to pull off the win and MI eventually won it by 27 runs on Friday (May 12) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Suryakumar Yadav was the reason behind the massive 218/5 total. He smashed an unbeaten 103 off just 49 balls. Later, when GT walked out to chase the target, Akash Madhwal got rid of the two openers, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill in the second and fourth over respectively.

Then one by one, GT batters succumbed to pressure. The likes of Hardik Pandya, Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, and Rahul Tewatia were all sent to packing for mere runs. But David Miller did contribute some crucial runs, scoring 41 runs from 26 balls.

But this match, apart from Suryakumar Yadav’s blitzkrieg, will be known for Rashid Khan’s mad innings. The Afghan all-rounder turned a beast and kept sending the balls across the boundary lines. He remained unbeaten on 79 runs from 32 balls with three boundaries and a whopping 10 sixes. The most terrific thing about his knock was his strike rate which was an incredible 246.88.

Rashid Khan was the lone warrior and had he received support from other batters, GT would have won the match, but they fell short of 27 runs in the end.

After this match, MI got placed third on the points table with seven wins from 12 matches, while GT are still the table toppers, with eight wins from 12 matches. MI will face Lucknow Super Giants on May 16, while the defending champions will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 15th.
