Gujarat Titans (GT) would have crossed the 200-run mark if it wasn’t for Bhuvneshwar Kumar‘s five-wicket haul. The defending champions, at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, put on 188/9 in their 20 overs on Monday (May 15) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). SRH skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Bhuvneshwar rocked GT in the last overs and wrapped up the match by bagging five wickets for 30 runs in his full quota of overs at an economy of 7.50. GT opener Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill, skipper Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Mohammed Shami became the 33-year-old’s victims. In the last over, he dismissed Gill, Rashid, and Shami and eventually stopped them from creating more damage.
After this performance, he bagged a total of 15 wickets from 12 matches in this Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Apart from Bhuvneshwar, Marco Jansen, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and T Natarajan picked up one wicket each.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred for SRH but for GT, it was Shubman Gill courtesy of whom they could reach the challenging total. Gill scored his maiden century, 101 off 58 balls with 13 boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 174.14.
Apart from Gill, Sai Sudharsan also added 47 runs from 36 balls. Only these two batters crossed the double-digit mark from the GT side.
This match is heading toward GT’s victory as they have already sent six of SRH’s batters to the dugout for 56 runs in 6.5 overs. Mohammed Shami has already bagged three wickets, Mohit Sharma got two, and Yash Dayal picked up one wicket at the time of writing this article. GT are the table toppers and will soon become the first team to qualify for the playoffs, for the second consecutive time.
