Punjab Kings‘ (PBKS) Prabhsimran Singh became the fifth batter in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to hammer a century. He was the only batsman from the side whose bat talked as other batters simply faltered against Delhi Capitals on a sluggish pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday (May 13).
The 22-year-old youngster took 61 balls to reach the 100-run mark and ended up scoring 103 off 65 balls with 10 fours and six maximums at a strike rate of 158.46. He was bowled out by Mukesh Kumar in the penultimate over with a low full-toss delivery. This is the youngster’s maiden IPL ton.
His knock helped PBKS post a defendable 167/7 total in their 20 overs. Apart from Prabhsimran, only two batters could reach the double-digit mark- Sam Curran (20 off 24), and Sikandar Raza (11* off seven).

This season, the Punjab-born batter Prabhsimran Singh collected 334 runs from 12 matches with a ton and a half-century, at a decent strike rate of 153.92. His 103-run knock is also the fourth-highest score in this season’s IPL.
Among the DC bowlers, Ishant Sharma bagged two wickets, while Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, and Praveen Dubey got one wicket each. At the time of writing this article, Harpreet Brar’s four-wicket haul is ensuring a win for the visitors, though the shift of momentum can take place as DC need 50 runs from 26 balls right now.
Both PBKS and DC are languishing at the bottom positions on the points table. DC are standing last, while PBKS are eighth on it and it will be nearly impossible for both sides to qualify for the playoffs.
