The 31-year-old star all-rounder has played just a couple of matches for the four-time champions.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ben Stokes will return home right after the side’s last league match against Delhi Capitals (DC) of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on May 20. Stokes will be available for the last league match but whether he will get selected in the playing XI as a batter is uncertain.
The reason behind his leaving Yellow Jersey to fly back home, as per a report from ESPNCricinfo, is the upcoming Ashes series, starting June 16. Stokes, who is also the red-ball skipper of the English side, wants to prepare for the five-match Test series against Australia. He wants to give himself enough time to recover and has also previously expressed his desire to play the one-off Test against Ireland from June 1 to prepare for the Ashes.
The 31-year-old star all-rounder has played just a couple of matches for the four-time champions. He has knee niggle which forced him to manage his workload. At the same time, he also picked up a toe injury this season and has been out of action since the first week of April.
Fans on Twitter have criticized the English all-rounder for not featuring in matches after fetching a staggering INR 16.25 crore at the auction for this IPL season. They again started slamming him when news emerged that he will stay no longer with the Chennai-based franchise after league matches.

Meanwhile, CSK coach Stephen Fleming has confirmed that Stokes is still struggling with the ball but can give his services with the bat. However, CSK can also plan to go with the current combination of players and avoid doing much chopping and changing.
“Ben’s ability to bowl overs at the moment is still a bit of a challenge, but he’s there as that batting cover. But with Moeen (Ali) bowling well in good conditions- we go to Delhi (next) which has been turning- we think the balance of the side has been right,” Fleming said as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
