Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced the appointment of Andy Flower as their new Head Coach ahead of IPL 2024. The former Zimbabwe cricketer has an ample experience in coaching and interestingly, he was also the coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2022 and IPL 2023.
Flower has coached teams all around the globe and comes with an impressive portfolio. The Zimbabwean has guided the Multan Sultans (PSL), Trent Rockets (The Hundred), Maratha Arabians (Abu Dhabi T10), and Gulf Giants (ILT20) to title wins. With such an impressive record, RCB will hope for a change in fortunes with Flower at the helm.
“Andy is one of the best coaches in the game today. He has inspired players in leagues across the world. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome him to Royal Challengers Bangalore. His track record of success is ideal to take RCB forward,” said Rajesh V Menon, Vice President & Head of Royal Challengers Bangalore on Flower’s appointment (via RCB website).
Andy Flower’s appointment as RCB Head coach draws mix reactions

The decision to appoint Andy Flower as the new Head Coach of RCB received mixed reactions from netizens. While RCB fans were elated to see someone with so much experience joining the team, the other team’s fans mocked the franchise for chopping and changing too much.
Check out the spectrum of reactions below.
Notably, RCB ousted Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar to make place for Flower. The duo did a decent job together but RCB failing to make it to the playoffs in IPL 2023 forced the management to not renew their contracts.
