The 2023 edition of Global T20 League Canada concluded on Sunday (6 August) with Montreal Tigers emerging as the winners after beating Surrey Jaguars in the summit clash. Although Jatinder Singh was named the Player of the Match for his match-winning half-century (56*), Sherfane Rutherford won the Man of the Series award for finishing as the second-highest run-getter in the series.
Rutherford scored 220 runs in eight innings at an average of 44 and at a strike rate of 130.17. The West Indies batter was also the second-highest run-getter in the finals. While all went well, the prize Rutherford received for being named the Man of the Series caught the attention of the fans.
Sherfane Rutherford received a half-acre of land in the USA as a Man of the Series award. After the Montreal Tigers batter was presented the prize during the presentation ceremony, the pictures of the same went viral on social media. Fans were left in splits after seeing the prize mentioned.

Talking about the summit clash of the third season of GT20 Canada, it was a win for Montreal Tigers in a low-scoring thriller. After Surrey Jaguars were restricted to 130/5, Montreal Tigers were also in a fix. The Chris Lynn-led team was reduced to 106/5 in 18 overs. With the ball coming slow onto the bat, scoring 25 in 12 was not easy but Andre Russell put his hand up. The West Indies all-rounder scored a 6-ball 20* to see his team through.
