Babar Azam is not having a great ODI World Cup so far in terms of his performance. Against Australia on Friday (October 10), he again fell cheaply, for just 18 runs from 14 balls at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

While chasing a huge 368, the Pakistani openers Imam-Ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique gave a brilliant start to the run chase by stitching 134 runs between them. But after Shafique’s dismissal, it was time for the skipper to come. He hit three boundaries but before he could further contribute to the team, Adam Zampa pitched it short on the middle which Babar sent towards the mid-wicket region where the Aussie skipper caught the ball safely.

His best score so far in this World Cup came in the high-octane clash against India in Ahmedabad, where he scored 50 runs. Against Netherlands and Sri Lanka, only five and 10 runs could come from his bat.

For the die-hard Virat Kohli fans, Babar’s dismissal was the best thing that happened today; also most of the Indian fans are desperate to see Babar dropping to second position in the ODI batting position to see Shubman Gill occupy the top position.

Though Babar got out quickly, it did not affect Pakistan much as they were slowly heading toward the target. And although they lost four wickets for 250-plus runs, not losing further wickets will help them hammer Australia.
